Community Health Work

About Our Community Health Workers (CHWs)

A survey was completed in July 2021 by our CHW staff. The results of this survey are:

  • CHWs represent the target population: Almost all of our staff were born outside of the US and entered as refugees or immigrants. They are 100% bilingual: Most CHWs speak three or more languages.

  • Our CHWs are well educated: Many staff have post-secondary degrees and certifications. Several are in the process of obtaining post-secondary degrees.

  • Retention feedback: A majority of our staff want to continue working in their current or a similar role. Several staff indicated long term goals to work in healthcare as counselors, nurses, or social workers.

  • Job satisfaction: A majority of staff are more satisfied in their work as CHWs than in their pre-COVID employment.
